Postdoc Fellowship Summary: Postdoc Numerical Modeling of Cyclically Loaded Monopile Foundations for Offshore Wind Turbine
We are looking for a postdoctoral researcher to join the offshore engineering group at TU Delft’s Civil Engineering school. The chosen applicant will contribute to our understanding of the cyclic behavior of offshore foundations under both environmental (wind-wave) and seismic loading conditions in this capacity. Working with cutting-edge experimental data (geocentrifuge) and numerical modeling, the successful candidate will investigate and expand our understanding of cyclic soil-monopile interaction. There are scientific hurdles in understanding the underlying nature of cyclic activity in both cohesive and cohesionless soils within this sector. The application of this insight into real engineering models is equally exciting. The job will entail meticulously developing, setting up, and calibrating 3D finite element monopile models, as well as implementing constitutive models.

The main difficulty will be determining effective methods for achieving coordination among the control agents. We will also look into themes like stability, computational complexity, error bounds, formal or probabilistic performance guarantees, resilience, finite-termination effects, safety, and so forth.

Postdoc Fellowship Position Summary: Thrombosis-on-a-chip: Unravel the Mysteries of Blood Clots in Thromboembolic Diseases
You will collaborate with two departments: Biomechanical Engineering (BME) and Process and Energy (P&E). You will create a microfluidic device, design it, and conduct a controlled study to characterize thrombus formation, the mechanical properties of thrombi and their adhesion to vessel walls, and the thrombus response to lysis drugs in collaboration with Dr. Hanieh Bazyar (chemical engineering department). During exams, you will examine the microstructure using microscopic imaging methods. A collaborative, open, and welcoming culture, as well as a vast range of facilities, are embedded between the two departments.
