Job Description:
The following three PhD paths will be available to selected fellows:
- Clinical Track: Work with clinical partners on projects such as “quantitative evaluation of endothelial and microvascular function at critical care” or “transcranial, cot-side neuromonitoring for personalizing pediatric management.”
- Industrial Track: Work with industry partners on initiatives like “Development of Applications and Devices Based on Photonic Integrated Circuits” and “Evolving QRNGs: higher rates from weaker assumptions.”
- Enhanced Track: Participate in a range of theoretical and experimental research lines, such as Atto-Science, Photovoltaics, Quantum Optics, Medical Optics, and more, working with one of ICFO’s 26 research groups.
Fellows in the clinical and industrial courses will spend 6–18 months with their respective partner organizations. The program provides substantial training and teaching opportunities, utilizing local universities and the ICFO network of excellence.

Application Requirements:
- Must possess a Master’s degree in mathematics, physics, engineering, or medical sciences that is internationally recognized and relevant to ICFO research activities.
- By the time the PhD program begins, the degree needs to be finished.
- Must adhere to the MSCA mobility restrictions, which state that they cannot have lived or conducted their primary business in Spain for longer than 12 months in the previous three years.
- Outstanding academic background and prior research expertise.
- Good proficiency in the language at work.
- Not to have received a PhD prior.
- Past participants in the ICFO doctoral program may reapply if they can show a significant improvement in their candidacy.
- Good academic record.
