(03) PhD Degree – Fully Funded

PhD position summary: Cross-Disciplinary Learning on Climate Change and Biodiversity Conservation Using the Hazel Dormouse as a Model

Using the imperiled dormouse as an example, this project intends to build science-based instructional tools to fill knowledge gaps in the public’s understanding of ecosystem functionality. The Ph.D. student is expected to create and research teaching tools that demonstrate how internal and extrinsic factors such as climate change, competition for food and nest locations, and habitat fragmentation influence population dynamics. The potential of these tools to improve learning and expand understanding of the effects of climate change on ecosystem functioning and biodiversity can be investigated. We anticipate that the Ph.D. student will investigate and evaluate the outcomes and usefulness of science-based learning in non-school settings such as museums (particularly Naturama) and youth-led forums.

Ph.D. position summary: Re-advertisement – Ph.D. post in green protein production sustainability/techno-economic assessment

The Ph.D. project, which is funded in part by the Innovation Foundation Denmark project “Improved business potential by increasing protein quality from green feed protein to food protein ingredients and high-quality aquafeed” (GreenImPro) and the SDU Climate Cluster, aims to provide decision support on quantitative environmental sustainability and techno-economic performance of green proteins for feed. GreenImPro’s overarching goal is to create a scalable technique for creating high-quality white protein components from locally sourced alternatives in order to address the EU’s increasing protein need.
