In view of the heatwave in India, Punjab Chief Minister Bhagwant Mann has announced that summer vacations in Punjab schools will start from May 14.

New working hours of Punjab school:

Schools in Punjab have also changed school hours.

Primary classes will run from May 2 to 14 from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., and senior classes from 7 a.m. to 12:30 p.m.

Hate Wave in Punjab:

In the last few days, the temperature in Punjab and its adjoining areas has risen a few degrees above average. That is why the Punjab government has decided to start summer vacation in all schools of Punjab from May 14.

On Friday, April 29, the maximum temperature in Bathinda was 44 degrees Celsius while in Patiala it was 43.4 degrees Celsius. Amritsar was similarly at 43.3 degrees Celsius while Ludhiana was at 43.2 degrees Celsius and Jalandhar at 42.7 degrees Celsius.

Punjab school hours: Punjab was plunged into the scorching sun as parts of the state were engulfed by a heatwave for more than a week and the maximum temperature crossed the 40 degree Celsius mark. Due to the heatwave, the Punjab government has changed the working hours of schools. The revised school hours will be effective May 2, 2022. All primary schools will operate from 7 a.m. to 11 p.m., while middle, high and senior secondary classes will begin at 7 a.m. and continue until 12.30 p.m. Schools will be closed between May 14 and June 30, but online classes will be between May 16 and May 31, 2022.

Odisha Board cancels second shift board exams:

The second shift of BSE Odisha Matriculation Examination 2022 has recently been canceled by the Board of Secondary Education (BSE Odisha). It was announced that the Odisha 10th examinations which were scheduled to start on April 29 in the afternoon shift will now be held in the morning shift. This has been announced in view of the current heatwave situation in the state. The board has clarified that there will be no afternoon shift for these examinations. This will also apply to Odisha Madhyamak Exam and Odisha Board Open School Exam 2022.

“In view of the current heatwave situation in Odisha, classroom teaching (UG and PG) in all HEIs covered under HED will be suspended from 27.04.2022 to 2.05.2022,” the higher education department said in a tweet. ۔
