We are looking for a Ph.D. student who is interested in studying how the brain governs food behavior. Our team investigates eating behavior at the molecular, neural circuit, and behavioral levels. We’re especially curious about how the brain combines emotions, memories, and metabolic signaling to encode mental states like hunger and fullness. As a Ph.D. student in our lab, students will research novel neuro-molecular processes through which the brain governs what we eat, as well as how such mechanisms may be used to treat problematic eating patterns and eating disorders like anorexia nervosa. We believe in establishing an environment in which everyone feels supported, free, and capable of solving big neurological questions.

These malicious apps can be complex pieces of software created by well-organized criminal gangs or government organizations to attack everything from personal PCs and smartphones to crucial national infrastructures. There has been a surge in interest in adopting and inventing cutting-edge machine-learning algorithms for malware analysis, and the first findings are promising. This project’s particular aims include developing unique machine-learning approaches to improve malware comprehension. The job of a doctorate student is available as part of a research project funded by the Wallenberg AI, Autonomous Systems, and Software Programme (WASP).

PhD position title: PhD student in Computer Science focusing on energy-aware Cloud Computing
We are looking for a PhD student to focus on research into energy-aware Cloud computing at the Autonomous Distributed Systems (ADS) Lab. Cloud computing infrastructures are becoming more distributed, with powerful centralized data centers linked to several geographically scattered Edge nodes. They host Cloud applications, which are often made up of a number of containerized services that may be deployed and auto-scaled throughout the Cloud-Edge infrastructure fabric. This project attempts to explore novel techniques for modeling and controlling resources in a Cloud-Edge system to increase energy efficiency and/or the usage of renewable energy in collaboration with an existing team of academics. This will be accomplished by creating efficient ways for monitoring large-scale distributed systems and intelligently placing and/or migrating workloads depending on a balance of workload needs, provider requirements, and system requirements.
